Meet-a-Mom, Ada Owens!

Meet Ada! She and her family own CJ’s on St. Simons which get’s a lot of use feeding her three growing boys and, as she refers to her, her man child husband!

What is your name? Ada Owens

What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? St Simons Island – 9 years

What do you love about living here? The community! I grew up in a small town & didn’t know how valuable a close knit & supportive community was. When it was time for college, I ran off to live in a city but when my husband, Graham, and I got pregnant with our first child, my heart craved a place more like “home”. Raising a family takes a village and we’ve certainly found our village here. Not to mention the love & support this community provides to one another in an abundance of ways every day.

How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?Three boys & my man child husband! Arthur (8), Ansel (5), Asa (3), and Graham

What’s one of your favorite mom resources (websites, groups, stores, etc.) in the area?The Facebook Events Page is my favorite go to for local happenings!

What do you do for work and what’s the best part of your job? My husband & I own CJs Italian restaurant in pier village and I also work at our church (St Simons Pres) as director of communications. The perks to both are the people. I love getting to know everyone who comes through our doors!

What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you? I grew up on a farm & used to raise & show hogs for 4H!

What’s one way you relax when you need to “unwind”? Yoga & meditation

What’s your best mom hack? Smart timers! We have a family “meeting” to discuss screen time for all gadgets. That way the boys feel involved in the chosen time limit. Then I use smart plugs for our tvs & PlayStation and set the time limit for what we all settled on. When the smart plug turns the tv off, I don’t take the hit for screen time being over & the boys don’t fuss as much because it’s a time limit they helped choose
