What is your name? April McEwan
What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? St. Simons Island, where I grew up since moving here from Ohio at the age of 10. We live on mainland now.
What do you love about living here?Our community, Spanish moss, being surrounded by water and grand live oak trees.
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages? Fiona, 9
What’s one of your favorite mom resources (websites, groups, stores, etc.) in the area?Golden Isles Nature School, our local nature school co-op.

What do you do for work and what’s the best part of your job? Naturally, I serve, whether I’m serving food at Indigo Coastal Shanty, educating humans on childbirth, leading people through their yoga practice, or supporting a family through their sacred birth experience as a Birth Doula.
The best part about serving food is watching people enjoy a positively sensational experience.
The best part about educating people on childbirth is watching them find the strength and power within to advocate for themselves during a life-changing experience.
The best part about teaching yoga is watching people connect with their divine Self.
The best part about supporting a family through their birth experience is watching them transform into motherhood/fatherhood.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you?I have a Master of Science in Design from ASU. We lived in a Women’s Shelter in Ontario, CAN, when my daughter was 6-10 months young.
What’s one way you relax when you need to “unwind”? Submerge myself in water!
