Meet Laura! She is a Saint Simons mom of two and the founder of Light of Hope, an amazing organization bringing ABA therapy to children on the autism spectrum to Glynn County. Find out about her inspiration for the center and more of her favorites!
What is your name? Laura Johnson
What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? Brunswick (5 months) but before that I lived on SSI for 18 years.
What do you love about living here? I moved here for the beach! I always wanted to live at the beach. SSI got too crowded for our family, so we plan to build in Brunswick in the next couple of years.
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages? 2: Samantha (11) & Mary Charles (8)
What’s one of your favorite mom resources (websites, groups, stores, etc.) in the area? I love all the mom FB groups that I am a member of… both Brunswick and SSI.
What do you do for work and what’s the best part of your job? I own Light of Hope. We opened to bring ABA therapy to children on the autism spectrum in our area. I also have two side gigs.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you? I hate chocolate. I never have liked it. 😂
What’s one way you relax when you need to “unwind”? I feel as though I seldom have time to unwind, but when I do I love the beach.
What’s your best mom hack? Visual schedules. My youngest has autism.
We love to support local! Can you tell us some of your favorites in the Golden Isles?
