Meet Sarah! If you’ve had breakfast at Sandy Bottom Bagels recently then you probably run into her there! Sarah wasn’t always a bagel shop owner however, keep reading to find out her career before the shop!
What is your name? Sarah Callaway!
What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? Saint Simons Island
What do you love about living here?I grew up in a small town and after living in a couple bigger cities, I’m so happy to be raising my family on SSI with such a wonderful small community environment. The activities, the weather and of course the beach!
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages? 3 Boys! Hunter – 10, Chase – 8 and Jack -5.
What’s one of your favorite mom resources (websites, groups, stores, etc.) in the area? When we first moved here any the boys were younger I joined the Mom’s club and that was a great way to meet others and find activities. Since then the boys have become very active in rec sports and that has been another amazing way to get connected and meet friends in the area.
What do you do for work and what’s the best part of your job? My husband, Justin, and I own Sandy Bottom Bagels on St. Simons. I run the store day to day and he is the Executive Director of the United Way. Owning a small business in the area helps us really connect and be a part of the community in so many ways. Plus, it’s always fun to meet new people and keep up with our regulars!
What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you? Pre-bagels, I worked in television production. For 10 years I traveled with NASCAR and covered racing across the country. I worked in Nashville with CMT on several projects and on a few HGTV shows as well. Oh and of course… I was the 1997 Hunterdon County Dairy Princess!
What’s one way you relax when you need to “unwind”? When Justin gets home, I go on long walks with our dog Charlie. I’ve really gotten into podcasts and it’s a great way to escape from the chaos of the house when three boys are running non stop!
What’s your best mom hack?Keep them busy!
