Meet John and Joe! We know we’re usually praising the moms but we couldn’t do it all without the support of these guys! We’re lucky to call them “our” dads so read on to find out more about what they love about the Golden Isles!
What is your name? John Conti
What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? St Simons Island. We moved here from Connecticut a year and a half ago.
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages? Three crazy boys! Luca, who turns 8 tomorrow, Brody who is almost 7, and Milo, 2
What do you love about raising a family here? The pace of life. From where to came from up north, there is an ease about living here. It gives me and my family a chance to enjoy the day to day.
Tell us about your career and one (or more!) thing you love about it. I am a project manager in telecommunications. I love the team of people I work with. I am grateful I can call them co-workers and friends.
What is your favorite piece of dad advice or “dad hack?”Just be there. It doesn’t matter if you’re doing it all or making it perfect, as long as your are present for your kids, that’s the most important thing.
How do you balance work and family? I do my best to create enough time away from work that’s designated for them. Whether it is playing ball with Luca, getting beat EVERY time in Uno by Brody, or sharing pasta with Milo, they know that they are my number one priority. And of course I couldn’t do any of it without my wife!
Favorite band/TV show/and or book…Band: Queen
TV Show: The Sopranos (I just re-started it with my wife and it’s still as good as the first time I saw it!)
What is your name? Joe Manor
What Golden Isle do you call home and how long have you lived there? Saint simons and 4 years
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?I have two beautiful girls Quinn 5 and Claire 2
What do you love about raising a family here? I love how easy it is. We have a good network of friends. The elementary school is excellent and close by. The crime rate is low. There is always something to entertain us on the weekends. The weather let’s us be outside all year around!
Tell us about your career and one (or more!) thing you love about it.I work at the Federal Law Enforcement training center. I train students in defensive tactics and physical fitness. The best part of my job is seeing the transformation the students make mentally and physically on the way to there new careers.
What is your favorite piece of dad advice or “dad hack?”My best dad advice is try to separate work and family life. Work will always be there… your kids will eventually grow older and move away. You only have one shot at raising them, so make the most of it. Paint the nails, braid the hair, buy them pretty dresses. It’s all worth it.
How do you balance work and family? To be honest none of this gets balanced without my wife Debbie. She runs the day to day operations and does great. I need an outlet mentally and physically. Strength and conditions and jiu-jitsu are my outlets.
Favorite band/TV show/and or book…Vikings, Ozarks, yellow stone, and football
